In the fall of 2009, Hazel Park's staff collectively revisited HPA’s mission, vision and collective commitments to best support the continued success and growth of HPA’s learning community.

Mission Statement

This mission statement identifies why we exist at HPA

Hazel Park Middle School Academy: Leading minds to learning; Hearts to compassion; and lives to community service

Vision

Our vision is a statement that identifies what we will be through continued growth and development.

HPA aspires to create a successful learning community that ensures all students achieve their personal potential through rigorous academic focus and intentional social development.

Collective Commitments

These commitments communicate how we, the staff,

will behave to ensure the school will achieve our vision

We, all HPA employees, will hold ourselves and each other accountable by:

• Purposefully engaging in positive relationships with one another.
• Modeling the behaviors we aspire our students to exhibit.
• Collaborating with colleagues and building shared knowledge.
• Implementing best practice instructional/behavior strategies, utilizing current and action research to guide our learning and appraise their effectiveness through formative and summative assessments.
• Using ‘Above the Line / Below the line / Bottom Line’ as it pertains to behavior management.
• Intentionally preparing for our students and each other.
• Regularly reflecting on our progress at all levels of the organization.
• Demonstrating our support of HPA guidelines, protocols and policies by diligently following them.
