English and Reading Teachers at HPA
The English Department is made up of six teachers.  Seventh grade teachers are James Hagg, Linda Morrison, and Corri Gilbertson.  The eighth grade teachers are Aaron Ellickson, Lee Vang and Allison Hartzell.  Electives offered by the English Department are: Book Arts, Mythology, Reader's Theater and Coming of Age.

The Seventh grade Overarching Theme for the year is American Identity and My Identity.  The Overarching Questions for the year are "What does it mean to be an American?" and What is the "American Experience?"

The Eighth grade Overarching Theme for the year is Power and Justice in the World.  The Overarching Question for the year is "How does the exercise of power impact our world?"

READ 180 is a reading intervention class that is taught by Lea Bobo.  Students get intense instruction in small groups that rotate between three stations: individualized computer instruction, small group reading strategies, and independent reading.  They also read novels as a whole class.
